Summer has been sweet so far and life is good! Things after graduation have been pretty hectic but I have been maintaining a healthy balance of work and play by working hard and making the most of my down time. I hope everyone’s summer has been full of sunshine, creativity, laughter and new experiences.

Stand Up Paddle Surfing

Originating in the Hawaiian Islands, this emerging sport has been gaining in popularity and every time I have gone to the beach this summer I’ve curiously watched others doing it. I had to see what the fuss was about so a couple of weeks ago I finally went out and tired it. Stand up paddle surfing is easy to learn and not only fun but a killer core workout (hint: also a good way to work on your tan). I am a fan. I would love to get my own board and paddle but for now I’ll continue using the ones from South Beach Kayak. They even have a paddle board yoga class I am looking forward to to trying out soon.


I FINALLY had my first spa experience. My mom and I decided to take a day off to relax, go to the beach, and get a massage. It was exceptional. Raw Foods

Raw foods. They’re delicious. Eat them. I’ve been incorporating more raw foods into my diet and would eventually like to go 90% raw pescetarian. The more knowledge I acquire on the benefits of eating a raw food diet, the more I am convinced that it is the way humans are meant to eat. We have deviated so far from these natural foods and I believe it’s time we go back to the garden and leave processed food behind. I recently saw this TED talk by Matthew Kenney – Are You Feeding Your Body of Feeding Disease? A must see for anyone interested in learning more about raw food. I also recommend his book Raw Food for Real People if you want to read about how to prepare delicious raw food dishes. Crazy Sexy Diet is so far my favorite book on healthy eating and healthy living and it goes in depth about the benefits of an alkaline raw diet. No one is expected to go raw from one day to the next but slowly incorporating more and more raw natural foods will have an energizing, detoxifying and healing effect on your body that is difficult to achieve otherwise.

Fruity Cocktails

Ok ok so as much as I like to behave and eat healthy foods, I also enjoy a sweet fruity cocktail from time to time. I’ve been experimenting and creating my own martinis such as the grapefruit martini: Grey Goose Vodka, freshly squeezed grapefruit, & a splash of lemon…yumm. I’ve also been checking out some great cocktail recipes on the Because I’m Addicted blog such as the Watermelon Picnic Cocktail and the Midsummer Cocktail. Happy hour anyone?

I have this insatiable desire to read and consume information on various topics. Lately it has been mostly related to spirituality, productivity & wealth, and health. Deepak Chopra has some of the most spiritually uplifting books which focus on human empowerment and mind-body connections. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is one of my favorites. Another author/entrepreneur I enjoy reading because he is intelligent, funny (and kinda hot in my opinion) is Tim Ferriss . He is known for his bestselling book The 4-Hour Workweek, which I am currently reading. He also wrote 4 Hour Body: An Uncommon guide to Rapid-Fat Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Super Human, which I read the sections that interested me (ehhem #Superhuman). I also enjoy reading fiction although I haven’t been lately but would like to start again. It’s good for the imagination. Hint: For all you other bookworms out there, Borders is going out  of business ( booo :( ), which is very sad but also kind of cool because they’re having a pretty awesome Going Out of Business Sale (woohoo).


Last month I packed my bags and went on a weekend retreat. I took the time to disconnect from technology (ok… truth be told, I took my Ipad, but I barely used it I swear! ) and just from life in general. I meditated,  did some breathwork, yoga, and hung out with some awesome people. It’s nice to get away every once in a while and just think. Next I’d love to go on a silent retreat.


I’ve been recycling glass bottles and using them as vases for flowers and putting them around my room and bathroom. They look beautiful and make me happy. My favorites are orchids roses, and sunflowers. I am especially fond of mini roses which I have recently discovered.
