Check out a few of my favorite things this summer. I am obsessed with my Fear and Loathing in Miami tank. I first saw it at the Fashion Bloggers Do It Better event where ishine 365 had a pop up shop and ended up ordering it from them online when I saw it again in their look book.
Another one of my most favorite-est things is the book by Deepack Chopra – The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. I’m reading for the second time. Yes- It’s that good. I’m also loving the Un Mat by Lululemon. It’s light and thin for on the go yoga action. You never know when you’re going to have to break out into downward dog.
And remember although these things are kick ass! – “The best thins in life are not things”. – Somebody Wise

Summer is not quite gone and although I live in the magic city of endless summers, fall is already on my mind. I’m guilty of looking through the September issue of Vogue and thinking thoughts like – Hmmm maybe I should chop my hair into a bob and color it a darker shade of dark. Day dreaming of vampy lips and eye’s smoked out blacker than black. This shot I took of the beautiful Ms.Sindy Perez sums up my premature mood for fall beauty. The Makeup Show will be happening in Orlando soon and I am looking forward to a couple of days filled with frivolous vanities. I’m looking forward to purchasing a new vegan + cruelty free brush set from OCC Cosmetics because I’ve been on the super Haute Hippy tip lately…but more on that later! For now I’m going to enjoy what’s left of summer in brightly colored lips, sun kissed skin, long wavy ombre hair, and distressed cut-offs.

I recently did a fun gig through my and my heterosexual life partner Diamari‘s freelance design boutique, Dawl Creative. I created collateral for tonight’s Tap Takeover beer and food pairing at Lokal, a burger & bar joint in Coconut Grove. Lokal Burgers and beer “is as local as local gets”. They source all ingredients sustainably and locally which is rad. I don’t eat burgers (unless they’re veggie) or drink beer (I’ll drink the hell out of some wine though) but I’ll be there scoping it out! I have never been before but have only heard great things.
For the event poster and menu design I wanted to keep Lokal’s raw industrial feeling with some distressed type with an illustrative touch. They loved the outcome and we love to make our clients happy so win/win. We hope to continue working with them on future events. Cheers.
I’m looking forward to tonight’s event at Ricochet Bar. If it is anything like the last it will definitely be a good time. Presented by fashion giant Refinery 29 and hosted by The Fashion Poet and the gals of The Goodwill Project, this event will have a complimentary cocktail hour (yum) and fashion show featuring some of our local fashion bloggers. My friends over at Collins Bridge are also sponsoring the event and you will see some of their super cool frames being strut down the runway.
Cocktails, pop up shops, and a fashion show. Sounds like my kind of Thursday evening.
I’ve been feeling very pink this summer and have had to talk myself out of impulsively dying my hair hot pink and opted for pink clip in extensions instead. Among these favorite things of mine is my NARS blush bronzer duo which is a fantastic + compact staple for my weekday morning minimalist makeup routine which you can read more about here. Another summer life saver is the Sachajuan Ocean mist spray for that- textured + tousled JBF I dont really care- hair. I’ve also enjoyed rocking this yoga mat bag that was given to me as a lovely gift. Sometimes wearing cute gym accessories is the necessary push to get me into the gym when I’m feeling lazy in my bones. I hope everyone is enjoying the final stretch of summer. Too-da-loo.

Last week Diamari and I packed our bags ( in a flurry of pre-birthday spontaneity ) and headed to Brooklyn to meet up our friend Katherine Turner from Viva Vint. Kat’s boyfriends band, Toubab Krewe was touring there so the weekend promised to be full of music and thrift shopping (which it so awesomely was). We spent Cinco de Mayo in Williamsburg and Kat had planned a Frida Kahlo tribute hairstyle to rock that night. She used real flowers in her gorgeous blonde crown braid. I loved it so much I had to take some shots at the hotel before heading out to the Brooklyn Bowl for the festivities.
